Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition, Inc., Prevention Is The Cure campaign is working toward collecting donations of designer handbags to be offered as auction items during our exciting fundraiser event – The 6th Annual Bag Ladies Benefit to be held May 5, 2011.  Additionally, an array of other donated items of your choice is welcome to fill our numerous raffle prize baskets.

Mounting scientific evidence suggests that disease is not caused by genes alone, but by the interaction of environmental triggers. We need your help to raise the necessary funds to increase public awareness of environmental links to disease, while urging the public to demand greater funding for environmental health research. It is our mission to focus on preventative methods, as we actively help those faced with a positive diagnosis.

HBCAC is dedicated to providing a plethora of services and programs throughout the New York Metropolitan area through some of our highlight community efforts:

Lend a Helping Hand, easing the burden of women and their families faced with a positive diagnosis of breast cancer.  Huntington township residents offered assistance with medical transportation, house cleaning, emergency financial help for medical supplies, as well as emotional support.   

The Students and Scientists Environmental Research Scholarship Program, grants local high school students the rare opportunity to work with world renowned researchers, learning sophisticated laboratory procedures in a state-of-the art-lab, researching and exploring environmental triggers which contribute to the causation of disease.

Look Before You L.E.A.P. is an educational program offering environmental health information in a manner that is non-threatening, age-appropriate and fun for children and families.  LEAP stands for Lead, Endocrine Disruptors, Air Pollution, and Pesticides, four well established toxins.  The LEAP tote includes fun, interactive materials, to help families understand the role toxic chemicals play in human health.
