Letter to the Editor:
BE SAFE – DUMP THE WATER
By Janet Hoffman
An easy way to get rid of mosquitoes that might
cause West Nile virus and other mosquito-carried diseases
would be to have the general public and businesses
empty the water from containers after a rainfall (such as
pails, tires, wheel barrows, etc.). This would eliminate the
need for county and town spraying of pesticides (neurotoxins)
to help rid the threat of larva level of mosquito
development.
How about asking your children to seek out these
possible containers and DUMP THE WATER. In fact, how about
asking your local school district to challenge the
students to have a Search Contest or Game to see who can be
the most effective in eliminating this threat, by dumping
containers filled with standing water.
Otherwise, our only answer is to “bring on the poison?”
I think not.
